Obeying the command of God, I rejoice in the wife of my youth. I do so eagerly. Why? For many reasons, including:
She loves me a lot, but she loves the Lord a lot more.
She makes sure that I eat like a duke every day.
She reads voraciously, especially the Bible, which she reveres.
She loves people with warmth and charm, and she really means it.
She is a nurturing mother and now grandmother. (Yes, that cute girl is a grandmother!)
She has never forced me to choose between herself and God but has always urged me to put God first, no matter what the cost.
She fears nothing but sin.
She longs for heaven.
She prays like a saint.
She believes in me and has high expectations of me, and I want to live up to that.
She is patient with me when I am troubled.
She makes our home a clean, orderly, pleasant environment I like returning to every night.
She looks great in a deer stand, wearing camo, with her 270 across her lap.
She is kind even to our dog.
There are, I admit, a few things I don't like about my wife. One, she won't let me grow a pony tail. Two, she won't let me be a slob. Three, she rolls her eyes when I whine and complain. Four, she likes to save money rather than spend it. Five, she likes to throw things out rather than store them forever in the garage. I do have to be patient at times.
No, it's not our wedding anniversary. Just another day with Jani. Thank you, Lord.

h-m-m-m . . . maybe growing that pony-tail could save us some haircut money. You might have some negotiating power there, dearheart.
yours always, whatever length your hair is.
Ray,
As I was reviewing some of the blogs posted, I came across this one and found it a great description of you and your wife. I also found it disheartening that so many, who love to comment on the hot topics, fail to respond to the notes that celebrate the truly great gifts that God bestows on His sons.
I, too, love my wife who also knows me all too well. She is a wonderful person who loves the Lord. I don't deserve her but, thanks to God, He lets me spend time with her every day.

hello, i just 'found' this from another blog. may i just say, what a wonderful post. as a 3oish wife and mom I was blessed and inspired. oh to have a godly woman like that nearby to mentor me. :) thanks for sharing that love for us to see. God bless you both. :)
Thanks, baby.
Jeff, so great to hear from you. I love that word "celebrate." You're right. We don't celebrate enough. What must under-celebrating lives look like through the eyes of the all-bountiful God?
Darci, thank you for your kind remarks. I am sure Jani would love to have you as a friend. Someday.
Ray,
It is amazing how seeds planted will bear fruit much later. I was searching on thoughts and ideas to help encourage my wife and came across your post. Thank you for sharing about your wonderful wife. Jani, thank you for being a wonderful wife to your husband.
Ray and Jani,
It was such a blessing to read this post. I am believing the Lord for a godly wife and I think you just described one. Whoever thought the Proverbs 31 woman was a myth was obviously wrong as you have one right in your house :) I look forward to seeing the one the Lord has for me and pray I will be a blessing to her everyday just as you are a blessing to each other. God bless you with long life.
